Last minute Christmas present inspiration: downloadable gifts

There’s only a few days to go until the big day!

As always I feel like December has disappeared in a flash – do you feel the same?

If you haven’t finished your Christmas shopping yet it’s probably safest to hit the shops rather than order gifts in the post in case they don’t arrive on time.

Alternatively, you could give instantly downloadable and subscription gifts a try!

There are so many to choose from it’s easy to match one with most hobbies and interests.

So even this close to Christmas, it’s still possible to give something your recipient will be thrilled with.

Here are my favourite six examples to get you started.

If none of these are quite right for your intended recipient, I recommend you have a good search online as there are so many options to choose from!

Audible gift membership

If your recipient loves books, you could try introducing them to the joy of audiobooks.

They’re particularly likely to appreciate this gift if they enjoy listening to the radio, spend a lot of time in the car, or live alone – for example, I find listening to an audiobook a really companionable experience.

I really like Audible from Amazon, which offers a range of options depending on how much you want to spend.

You can opt for a one, three, six or 12 month membership ranging from £7.99 to 69.99.

This will allow your giftee to download and keep one audiobook per month.

It also includes unlimited listening to the ‘Plus Catalogue’ which includes thousands of selected Audible Originals, podcasts and audiobooks.

Fantastic value!

Nintendo Switch online membership

If your recipient enjoys video games and has a Nintendo Switch, this is the perfect gift.

It will allow them to play online with friends and compete with others around the world.

Not only will they love it, it doesn’t matter that you’ve left it to the last minute as you can download it instantly!

You can choose either a three-month subscription for £6.99 or 12 months for £17.99.

An experience day

There are so many of these to choose from, so whatever your recipients’ interests I think you’ll find something they’ll enjoy.

For example, on the Virgin Experience Days website, you can choose from hundreds of days out including indoor skydiving, helicopter tours, afternoon teas, and wildlife photography days.

You can also download an e-voucher instantly, so there’s no need to worry if your gift will arrive in time for Christmas.

They’re also offering flexible booking, free exchanges and extensions to voucher validity dates in light of the uncertainty we continue to face due to Covid-19.

Kindle Unlimited subscription

Another brilliant one for booklovers, Kindle Unlimited provides access to more than 1 million books and thousands of audiobooks. You can also enjoy loads of magazines, all included in the subscription!

Make sure you tick the box to indicate you’re buying the subscription as a gift and enter your recipient’s email address before checking out.

It costs £7.99 a month, but at the time of writing there’s a brilliant offer on, so if this sounds right for a friend or member of your family then don’t delay!

Disney+ membership

An annual subscription to Disney’s online streaming service will be a hit gift with both children and adults alike, with lots of favourite festive films and newer releases available to watch on demand.

It’s £79.90 for an annual subscription, but please note it will only work if the person you’re sending it to isn’t already a subscriber.

You’ll also need to have their email address to hand!

English Heritage membership

Is your intended recipient a history lover, or do they love a great day out?

If so, a gift membership for English Heritage’s 400 historic places could be a great bet.

As well as unlimited access to English Heritage properties, they’ll also receive a free handbook to help them plan their days out, a members’ magazine each quarter and free parking at sites managed by English Heritage.

An annual membership for one adult costs £64 and, although the last posting date before Christmas has passed, you can instantly download a gift certificate to send to your loved one.

I hope these ideas give you some inspiration! Do let me know if you have any of your own and I’ll share them with the Christmas Organised community.

I’ll be back in the new year with more hints and tips and in the meantime I hope you and your family have the most fabulous and fun Christmas!
